Welcome to my blog where I can share my journey with you! I am a Licensed Parelli Professional Two Star Junior Instructor. Here you can read about my experiences with Parelli Natural Horsemanship, my personal horsemanship journey, and my journey with being a Parelli Instructor. I hope to inspire and empower you with my quest for never ending self improvement. I have been studying Parelli for 11 years and am an official Level 3 graduate. I am studying Level 4 with my two horses, Max and Savannah. I grew up riding horses the traditional way and was in the United States Pony Club for 12 years, where I competed in Eventing and Dressage. My first introduction to Parelli was with my pony, who at the time was not a problem horse. I've had my andalusian mare, Savannah for 7 years now and after 2 years of struggling with her while not using Parelli methods, I knew I had to change something. I have been doing Parelli with her for the past 5 years and graduated Level 3 with her fall 2010. In the Spring of 2010 I received Max from Kelly Sigler. I owe it to my two amazing horses, as I would not be where I am now without them, they are my greatest teachers. The journey so far with Parelli has been fun, fulfilling, challenging, and life changing.

Today was such an awesome day! We started off the day with online focus stations. The first one we went to was circling and maintaining gait. The second one was sideways to the end of the 45' without moving your feet.

We had some major breakthroughs in our circling game today. Savannah was relaxed, rhythmic, and in contact on the end of the 45'. The sideways station was also great! I as able to get Savannah to maintain her gait going sideways almost to the end of the 45' without moving my feet, unless a phase 4 was needed.

Then the instructors gave a demo on saddling, bridling, and pre flight checks. Did you know that your horse should be able to do all FOUR gaits preferably on the 45' before mounting. That means walk, trot, canter, back up, and gallop!

After lunch we were assigned to our coaches for the week and then had our private one on one sessions talking about our weekly focuses for the week. My coach for this week is Mollie Vacco. My tasks for the week are online: yo-yo to the end of the 45', sideways over obstacles working towards getting Savannah confident with sideways over barrels, going into the tiny parelli trailer along with the carwash, and preflight checks with the 45' working towards rhythm and relaxation. For freestyle: using the honeycomb circles as approach and retreat, and the lollipop game with trees.. these tasks all working towards Savannah becoming more confident and less impulsive.

When riding this evening Savannah STARTED out with rhythm and relaxation after having a strong warmup on the 45'. What a GREAT day!! We also got our results from testing this week. :-)
