Welcome to my blog where I can share my journey with you! I am a Licensed Parelli Professional Two Star Junior Instructor. Here you can read about my experiences with Parelli Natural Horsemanship, my personal horsemanship journey, and my journey with being a Parelli Instructor. I hope to inspire and empower you with my quest for never ending self improvement. I have been studying Parelli for 11 years and am an official Level 3 graduate. I am studying Level 4 with my two horses, Max and Savannah. I grew up riding horses the traditional way and was in the United States Pony Club for 12 years, where I competed in Eventing and Dressage. My first introduction to Parelli was with my pony, who at the time was not a problem horse. I've had my andalusian mare, Savannah for 7 years now and after 2 years of struggling with her while not using Parelli methods, I knew I had to change something. I have been doing Parelli with her for the past 5 years and graduated Level 3 with her fall 2010. In the Spring of 2010 I received Max from Kelly Sigler. I owe it to my two amazing horses, as I would not be where I am now without them, they are my greatest teachers. The journey so far with Parelli has been fun, fulfilling, challenging, and life changing.

Extern Group Lesson and Webinar

We started off the day with some soccer! We then played with our horses online, working on the same exercises as we did yesterday. I did some circling, change of direction, falling leaf, s patterns, and traveling circle with Max. I rewarded him by ending when he came in to me with no brace on his hard direction. Then Berin had us go through some falling leaf, as he wanted to see where everyone had gotten to with their falling leaf pattern.

Before lunch, we rode in a freestyle group lesson. Max was quite emotional today, and it was very interesting! I used circling to slow him down when we were doing follow the rail and clover leaf patterns. We then moved on to some bowtie patterns. Walk was great for Max and he was listening and relaxed. Once we moved on to trot his emotions came up. He would canter when I was trying to slow him down around the cone. Berin helped me with circling around the cone until he relaxed and then move on in the walk right away and give a purpose to Max walking. I learned a lot riding Max today. That I was not rewarding the slightest try for him slowing down... I NEED TO! I also need to reward Max for acting like himself and being a LBI, and give him time to be himself.. don't rush into making him go! It doesn't reward him for being him. He seems to get so emotional undersaddle because of the expectations he puts on himself, getting himself emotional and into his old patterns of wanting to run.

This afternoon we were able to sit in and listen to the Instructor Live Webinar with Pat, Linda, and Neil. It was SO cool!!! Very informative! Tomorrow is the live webinar for Savvy Club Members!!! Join in at 2pm EST tomorrow for some fun!!!

I also gave my presentation to the externs on Horsenalities today. It went fairly well. I had lots of information, but could definitely improve on being more interactive with the group and using more improv skills. It was a great learning experience!!
