This morning Berin talked to us about knots and tying prep. He did a demo with an extern's horse on how to deal with a horse that pulls back and how to prepare them for tying. He also talked to us about spurs, why and when to use them. We had an awesome freestyle group session this morning. Berin had us follow the sand tracks around the foundation station. He had us stay on circles until our horses relaxed and then move on to straight lines, all depending on our horse's impulsion. Max was showing all of his usual baggage.. which was awesome because I want Berin to see what I'm dealing with. I circled Max around the round pen and he kept going into the canter. Berin had me bring him back to the trot and allow Max to go as fast as he wanted while staying on the track around the round pen. After about a half hour Max decided he should slow down, so I stopped there. I also got to ride him to lunch, which was fun!
The externs set up the playgrounds for the Parelli Games tomorrow morning. They are going to be awesome! Another fun day ahead for us at the Parelli Center!
Can't believe I've already been here for 5 weeks. Only 7 more weeks ahead!!!
