Welcome to my blog where I can share my journey with you! I am a Licensed Parelli Professional Two Star Junior Instructor. Here you can read about my experiences with Parelli Natural Horsemanship, my personal horsemanship journey, and my journey with being a Parelli Instructor. I hope to inspire and empower you with my quest for never ending self improvement. I have been studying Parelli for 11 years and am an official Level 3 graduate. I am studying Level 4 with my two horses, Max and Savannah. I grew up riding horses the traditional way and was in the United States Pony Club for 12 years, where I competed in Eventing and Dressage. My first introduction to Parelli was with my pony, who at the time was not a problem horse. I've had my andalusian mare, Savannah for 7 years now and after 2 years of struggling with her while not using Parelli methods, I knew I had to change something. I have been doing Parelli with her for the past 5 years and graduated Level 3 with her fall 2010. In the Spring of 2010 I received Max from Kelly Sigler. I owe it to my two amazing horses, as I would not be where I am now without them, they are my greatest teachers. The journey so far with Parelli has been fun, fulfilling, challenging, and life changing.

Dave Ellis camp this week

Today I'm getting all packed for the Dave Ellis camp I'm participating in this week at beautiful Ladd Farm in New Hampshire. Very excited it's on Ranch Horse Versatility. Savannah is all clean and ready to go :-) We leave later this afternoon to arrive there this evening, the camp runs Monday through Thursday.

My first experience with Ranch Horse Versatility was during my externship. Pat Parelli and Martin Black taught a Ranch Horse Versatility clinic together.. it was awesome! Learned so much during that weekend!

Here is a segment from the information about the camp. What we will be focusing on this week.

Some of the skills we'll cover include:
1- Ranch Riding. Just as Pat says, "The best horses walk fast, trot medium, lope slow."
2- Ranch Trail. All the great on-line things we've been doing will be advanced from the side of zone 3, allowing us to easily drag a slicker, open a mail box, cross a bridge, open a gate, etc.
3- Working Ranch Horse. We'll use some cattle simulations. NO LIVE CATTLE THIS YEAR. We will explore the elements of smooth circles, straight lines smooth transitions up and down, and lead changes.
4- Ranch Cutting. We'll explore elements of ranch cutting through simulations and theory.
5- Ranch Conformation. Best way to present your horse to a judge.

I will be updating my blog and parelli connect everyday about my experience in the camp. Very excited to have this opportunity to learn from a master.
