Welcome to my blog where I can share my journey with you! I am a Licensed Parelli Professional Two Star Junior Instructor. Here you can read about my experiences with Parelli Natural Horsemanship, my personal horsemanship journey, and my journey with being a Parelli Instructor. I hope to inspire and empower you with my quest for never ending self improvement. I have been studying Parelli for 11 years and am an official Level 3 graduate. I am studying Level 4 with my two horses, Max and Savannah. I grew up riding horses the traditional way and was in the United States Pony Club for 12 years, where I competed in Eventing and Dressage. My first introduction to Parelli was with my pony, who at the time was not a problem horse. I've had my andalusian mare, Savannah for 7 years now and after 2 years of struggling with her while not using Parelli methods, I knew I had to change something. I have been doing Parelli with her for the past 5 years and graduated Level 3 with her fall 2010. In the Spring of 2010 I received Max from Kelly Sigler. I owe it to my two amazing horses, as I would not be where I am now without them, they are my greatest teachers. The journey so far with Parelli has been fun, fulfilling, challenging, and life changing.

EXTERNSHIP!!!

Started my externship January 15th and it's been a blast! The first week was filled with testing in all four savvies and getting to know each other. Last week we started having horsemanship lessons. Berin has been having us do follow the rail for relaxation, adding in circles and trotting, or what each individual horse needs. Savannah has been quite emotional in the big arena with all the horses so Berin has been having us walk until she relaxes, then add in a few steps of trot, then walk until she relaxes.. and so on. She is definitely getting better! Max is doing awesome too! He is settling in very nicely and has been great to ride!

Last week we also started our rotations. The four rotations are facility, horse development, administration, and teaching. So far I have had facility and horse development. In our facility rotation Jim Kiser is teaching us all about facility in a classroom setting. He wants us to be able to realize what is safe and isn't safe, and what works or doesn't work for when we are out in the field teaching. In horse development Berin gave us the assignment of coming up with a 10 minute presentation using our imaginations. My presentation is on Horsenality, which I will have to present in about a week or two.

Today we started the One Star one week course. We will be in the one star course all this week and in parts of the two star course next week. It's all very exciting!!! Mark Weiler and Pat talked to us today about Parelli and the future. It looks very promising! Can't wait to be out in the field helping to change the world for both horses and humans.

xoxo Sarah
