Day off today. Got some laundry done this morning and ran a few errands. Then came back to the ranch and rode Max. Wow! He was amazing! What a difference, he's finally understanding that he doesn't need to run away. He started off a little worried and kept trying to canter as we went around the round pen, but it took him much less time than yesterday to think about going slow. Once he slowed down we took a nice long break. Then we went back to the pattern and he was amazing! Only a few times he got emotional but he would calm right down. We even trotted on a straight line. I've found that when I go on the pattern around the round pen and once he slows down, I'll bring him right to walk and walk off where ever he wants to go. This really rewards him, since he is innately a LBI, and it takes the pressure off. Mariah, Zoe, and I then went on a trail ride across the street to the lodge and rode to dinner. Then we rode back and had a nice relaxing ride.
Tomorrow we are back into our schedule. Going to be an awesome week! It's already our 6th week! I can't believe it. We have our midterm scores at the end of the week, will be very interesting. I'm anxious to see where I am so I know where to improve.
Keep it Natural!
Sarah XOXO
