Welcome to my blog where I can share my journey with you! I am a Licensed Parelli Professional Two Star Junior Instructor. Here you can read about my experiences with Parelli Natural Horsemanship, my personal horsemanship journey, and my journey with being a Parelli Instructor. I hope to inspire and empower you with my quest for never ending self improvement. I have been studying Parelli for 11 years and am an official Level 3 graduate. I am studying Level 4 with my two horses, Max and Savannah. I grew up riding horses the traditional way and was in the United States Pony Club for 12 years, where I competed in Eventing and Dressage. My first introduction to Parelli was with my pony, who at the time was not a problem horse. I've had my andalusian mare, Savannah for 7 years now and after 2 years of struggling with her while not using Parelli methods, I knew I had to change something. I have been doing Parelli with her for the past 5 years and graduated Level 3 with her fall 2010. In the Spring of 2010 I received Max from Kelly Sigler. I owe it to my two amazing horses, as I would not be where I am now without them, they are my greatest teachers. The journey so far with Parelli has been fun, fulfilling, challenging, and life changing.

Horsemanship and Driving Class!

This morning I rode Max and had my best ride yet on him!! He was so good! He was going slow and listening to what I asked, instead of usually reacting to when I ask him something under saddle. He was emotional only about 10% of the time and would quickly come back to reality. We trotted around riding circles and straight lines, rewarding him for slowing down or stopping. And also let him have breaks by walking away from the pattern, let his mind get off of it. He was amazing!!!

Before lunch we had our Driving Class with Nate Bowers. It was excellent!! We reviewed topics from our first class and were able to harness up the drafts. We learned so much!!! Thunder and Lightning are both amazing horses. Nate picked me first to harness up Lightning, and it really tested what I had remembered from the first lesson we had. Luckily Nate was there to help me remember, but I thought I did pretty good since it's been around 5 weeks since we have done this. We all had fun and learned quite a bit.

This afternoon it was my group's rotation for the hay run. I went with another extern with Nate driving the draft team, and the other 2 externs in our group went on the tractor. It was a HUGE learning experience!! Got to put my knowledge to the test. We helped Nate hitch up the team and also unhitch at the end. Throwing hay was a workout but so much fun, I really enjoyed it! I love how everything here at the Parelli Ranch is a learning experience!
